APC & PDP

APC and PDPThe All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday traded blames over the clash that occurred in Oshodi area of Lagos leaving two persons dead.
Many innocent citizens who were going about their daily activities were trapped in the early morning violence which began on Tuesday evening at the Mosafejo area.

No fewer than 14 vehicles were also vandalised and 15 others burnt during the mayhem.
Normalcy was restored when security operatives took control of the affected areas, while traffic on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway and the Ikorodu Road remained at a standstill for hours as the battle raged.
Speaking to Daily Independent, a chieftain of the APC, Wole Balogun said the PDP members in the area who were protesting the arrest of their colleagues by the police went on rampage attacking APC members while also unleashing mayhem passersby in the area.

But the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Taofik Gani said the mayhem was as a result of the crisis that trailed the primaries of the APC in Lagos. He also accused the APC of backing motor park touts in Lagos under the leadership of one Musiliu Akinsanya also known as MC Oluomo.
“APC has always used… We don’t want APC to come and involve us in these their intra-party crisis. It has been on since their primaries. It is on record that at their various rallies and primaries, a total number of eight persons have been killed. Four persons were killed in Ajeromi-Ifelodun between the supporters of the man who wants to go for third term in House of Representatives and the man who eventually won.
“Also, four people were killed in Ebute Metta on the day of their House of Assembly primary. Now, the snowball effect of that is what we are now having amongst the motor park boys who have always been supporting the APC through the Team Lagos led Musiliu Akinsanya popularly called MC Oluomo” he said.
Reacting, Joe Igbokwe, the Publicity Secretary of the APC lamented the loss of lives in the crisis saying that the Lagos State Government is doing its best to address the situation.
“Fighting between street gangs has always been the culture in Lagos and the state government is unrelenting in its resolve to curb this menace. I don’t expect it to get to the extent that people will die. I am happy that it did not happen during our campaign. All we need to do is to empower the security agencies to be able to nip these things in the bud. I regret the loss of lives” he said.
